A sustainable approach to limestone filler production

environnement-calcaire.jpg

For Carbocia, the extraction of mineral raw materials for use in industry and a rock-solid commitment to the environment and local fauna and flora go hand-in-hand

Protecting the local habitat, fauna and flora is an integral part of our mission

Before being processed, the micronized limestone is extracted from the quarries worked by the Carrières de la Vallée Heureuse in Rinxent (62) in the bassin de Marquise area. Once the limestone has been removed, the site is rehabilitated and the local flora and fauna returns. Rock walls, scree, backfill, terraces and marshy areas become the ideal habitat for local plants and wildlife as soon as pollutants and hazards have been removed.

Large-scale habitat restoration following rock extraction

In order to have an impact in the longer-term, les Carrières de la Vallée Heureuse have signed up to a green charter featuring 80 good environmental practices. The company is also involved in a large-scale habitat and landscape restoration plan called the ‘plan de paysage du bassin carrier de Marquise’ which aims to rehabilitate and restore areas after mineral extraction is completed.
